Meet Our Founder

Dr. Kim Farber

LMFT82013

“Systems are dynamic, and the treatment of them must be flexible and robust enough to bend and move with the shifting dynamics while steady enough to support course correction.”

Welcome! I’m Dr. Kim Farber. I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California and the Founder of Cohealing Center. At heart, I’m someone who believes that healing happens in connection—within ourselves, our families, our communities, and the systems we’re part of.

My path to this work has been both academic and deeply personal. I hold a PhD in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Psychotherapy from Pacifica Graduate Institute, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, and a B.S. in Communications from Northwestern University. But just as important as the degrees are the years I’ve spent working with and witnessing people in some of their most tender and transformative moments.

Before founding the Cohealing Center, I spent years developing family programs in residential and intensive outpatient treatment settings. I saw firsthand how our healthcare system often focuses narrowly on individuals and symptoms, ignoring the essential context of relationships, culture, and environment. As far as I could see, that omission had a direct correlation with patients returning to treatment (aka treatment recidivism). And it was that insight that led me to develop Cohealing—an integrative, systems-based approach to therapy that honors the truth: we are shaped in relationship and we heal in relationship.

I specialize in Somatic Relational Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Depth Psychotherapy, and Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy to help individuals, couples, families and systems of all kinds heal. I also have training in Relational Somatic Psychotherapy (RSP), Foundational DBT, Basic EMDR, the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM-I), and Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy. I’ve had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with brilliant minds such as Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk (author of The Body Keeps The Score) and Dr. Richard Schwartz (creator of Internal Family Systems Therapy). I’ve advised the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Science (MAPS) on the development of an MDMA-assisted couples therapy protocol.

At Cohealing Center, my work is all about supporting people and systems in becoming more conscious, connected, and alive. I bring warmth, clarity, and depth into the room, and I hold space with the intention that people feel both deeply seen and gently challenged. Growth isn’t always comfortable, but I believe it can be meaningful—and even beautiful—when we do it together.
